Good Morning blogger friends,

First, I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Good Friday and a blessed Easter. It is going to be a beautiful weekend here in Upstate NY and I am super excited about enjoying the outdoors later today after the work is all done out in the shop.

Thank you to all my wonderful customers that have allowed me to continue running my sign business and I truly enjoy every minute of it.

It has been a busy week both out in the workshop and in the home. Our youngest son Zach (18) is headed out this morning to Washington, DC to spend 7 days around the capitol. They are planning on going to the zoo, Fredicksburgh, the White House ect, and they were lucky enough to be able to wrangle a visit to see Air Force One. He is with a good friend of ours and her children. I told him to take lots of pictures LOL!!

Good Morning blogger friends,

Woke up this morning to a dusting of snow :(...I hope this is the end of it! Yesterday we reached 55 degrees with the sun shining and today snow, but the sun is out.

It has been very busy around the workshop this week and still have more to do...thanks to all my wonderful customers!!

Jeff and I have decided to add more products to our website, so we will be working on some great reproduction furniture in the next few weeks. We are super excited to expand into this and hope our customers and my blogger friends will love what we will have to offer. Jeff is going to be making the furniture and I will paint it up and make them look old...going to be fun!! Maybe I can get him to make me some for the house too :)

Happy Friday blogger friends,

Yesterday was super busy and today is going to be the same. Lots of orders for my signs and I am super happy about that :)!!

Yesterday we spent part of the morning looking again for our two dogs...they decided the day before to escape the yard and spend the afternoon and night running around the adirondack mts. Luck for us, our wonderful neighbors, (there are only 2) kept a eye out for them. The wandered down to the Shelving Rock Estate, up to Sleeping Beauty mt and finally worked their way back down our road. Jeff and I got in the truck and started looking and yelling, and here comes Ty (7 mos. old pit bull puppy) running down the road with the neighbors boxer. Got him in the truck and then went looking for Murray ( 2 yr. old Black Lab) he was about 1/4 mile up the road sitting in the middle of road waiting for his brother!! They both got a talking too, but they were too tired to care :).

Jeff is going out today to see where the escape artist are getting out. One acre of our land is completely fenced in with 6ft fence, but they found a spot somewhere. I wouldn't mind so much that they get out, pretty quite up here, but the fox, wolves and other creatures are starting to move around a lot...our neighbor Tim just shot a red fox on Monday that was too close to the houses, in the middle of the day...so yup, we think it had rabies.

The rest of the day was spent out in the shop working on signs. Today, more signs to make :)

Today I am featuring Brenda from the Rusty Thimble for my OFG Monday Market Place featured artisian.

Brenda has been on Etsy for only a few months and has the most adorable items in her shoppe. Brenda answered a few questions so you can get to know her and what she offers:

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?

I come by the name honestly, I even had store named this in Texas.

I ask my husband almost everyday if you find something rusty

 today please bring it home to me.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?

Just a few months now.

3. What type of items do you offer?

Primtive Handmade items dolls, critters, tucks, makedos

4. How long have you been crafting?

 I remember as a child making doll clothes and watching my mother sew.

 I Made all of my own clothing in high school

I have made my creations and sold them since

the age of 18 and I am now in my 50's.

So I guess I could say I have crafted almost all of my life.

5. Who or What inspires you?

I get my inspiration from so many places.

I live at a lake and love to go to the water and sit.

I love color and all things I can get my hands on that

are VINTAGE to use in projects. Old quilts are my favorite,

my grandmother and mother always quilted. My mom is 88

and she stills quilts that is enough to inspire anyone.

I hope I am still doing this if I reach that age.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Right now that would be my Cone Rabbit.

 It is an original OOAK no two are ever alike.

I often make this using old sheet music for the cones.

Good Morning Blogger Friends,

I have finished most of my new signs, and I am really excited! I have most of them listed and just finishing lisiting the rest of them on Etsy this morning.

Now for the giveaway I said I would have up by Thursday, sorry that I didn't get it up, lots going on around the house and shop.

I am giving away a new sign, the Alaphbet Checkerboard. The sign measures 12" x
12" and has a Barn Red topcoat. Stenciling was done in Old Forge Mustard and black.

Today for my Old Farmhouse Gathering Monday Market Place Artist, I am featuring Charlene from CatsDesigns.

Charlene has been selling on Etsy since March of 2008 and here is some information she shared:

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?
 
My Etsy shops name is CatsDesigns and I chose it because those are the

    initials in my name and at the time I couldn't

 think of anything else.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?
I joined Etsy in March of 2008.

3. What type of items do you offer?
I offer Prim and Folkart decorations for your home,

 dolls, handbags and jewelry. 

4. How long have you been crafting?
It seems like I've been crafting all my life.

  When I was younger we didn't have a television until

 I was 10 years old,

 so I use to design dresses for my dolls out

 of old clothes.

5. Who or What inspires you?
God inspires me the most by allowing me to do what

 I love to do.

 Also the many pattern designers who come up

 with these fabulous designs.

  Right now I am most inspired by artists like

 Terrye French,

 Renee Mullins and Jamie Mills Price.

  My favorite doll designers are

 Maureen at Sweet Meadows Farm

 and Kat from Kats Country Prims.

It's hard to pick just one item it changes with what

 I'm doing at the time.

  I love painting and sewing for the seasons.

Been Busy

Good Afternoon Blogger Friends,

Just a quick note to let you all know I am still around, just busy.

We had a chimney fire last week...that was scary..hubby, son, dogs and cats ok and house is good...lots of smoke. So glad it did not spread :)

I am working on a ton of new signs and I hope to have them done and listed by the end of this week, and a bunch of orders I have been working on too.

It's Saturday!

Good Morning Friends,

It is early here and the temp outside my window reads a lovely -25 degrees :). The sun is coming up and it looks really pretty out there...but, this girl is not going out at all!

Thought I would share a couple of pics of the walk we took a couple days ago..it was snowing and a blamy 20 degrees out. :)

This is a beautiful little creek that runs behind our house from the wetlands right to the dirt road and under it..

Good Afternoon blogger friends,

I have been working on some new signs and will have them posted here tomorrow for you all to take a peek at.

The weather once again is going to turn COLD!!! Looks like I am looking at -30 degrees here by morning. The wind is really whipping up here on the mountian, but we have everything ready in case the power goes out again :)..wood stove and fireplace are going and it's nice and toasty in here.

Hello blogger friends,

What a Monday it has been so far. First we lost power for over 5 hours due to high winds, and rain. A bunch of wires came down and it took awhile for the power company to find them..as the lines run through the mountain. Just glad to have it back on! :)

So, I literally got nothing done today that I wanted to. But, there is always tomorrow.

I will be doing a Monday Market Place OFG feature tomorrow instead of today...so be on the lookout tomorrow to see the luckly artistian :).

Good Morning Friends,

It has been a busy week here at Irish Corkies Primitives..lots of orders! Just a quick reminder that my sale ends tomorrow night at my Artfire store :http://www.artfire.com/users/irishcorkieprimitives everything in my store is 10% off! Hurry on over if you are looking for a sign :)

I have been so busy that I didn't get a chance to let you all know what happened last weekend. We let our Lab Murray who is almost 2 years and Ty the puppy out, no mind you, we have 1 acre that is completly fenced in with 6' high fence. Well, the little buggers figured a way out and off they went.

Luckly we live on a dirt road on top of a mountian, bad news is there are a lot of critters out here, including a den of coyotes and a mountain lion. Well they never came back that day or night. We were out looking, calling and even took the sled out. No luck.

On Saturday morning we received a call from a very nice gentleman that asked if we were missing some dogs. I said yes and told them what kind of dogs and their names (thank goodness their tags stayed on). Those doggies of ours traveled over the mountain and ended up at the Northern end of Lake George. That is over 20 miles!!!

I was just so HAPPY to have them home safe and sound. They did get a good talking to you, but they just wagged their tails and went to sleep LOL!

So, needless to say they don't go out together anymore LOL..Jeff did find where they sneak out and fixed it, but I know the lab and he will find another way...:)

Like so many, I feel compelled to contribute in some way to the on-going relief efforts in Haiti. My initial impulse was to advertise that a percentage of my Etsy sales would go to charity. But how do I prove to my buyers that this is really where their money is going?? And I also understand not everyone has $20.00 or more to spare. Let's face it, our economy has been strained. But that shouldn't prevent us from uniting together and helping in some small way. I did some research and discovered that I could create my own fundraising web page with UNICEF, one of the most reputable organizations in these efforts, particularly for the welfare of mothers and children. As a mother myself, it has been the images of Haitian children during these last few days that has just tugged at my heart. 3. What type of items do you offer? We have a variety of items from home décor, primitives, vintage, fabric, quilts, pincushions, holiday, seasonal, handbags, heirloom items, etc.

4. How long have you been crafting? I think I have been crafting all of my life. I learned a lot of sewing at a very early age by watching a dear lady sew clothing and curtains while she babysat me over the summer months. I also taught myself to knit in the car after visiting and watching a relative in North Carolina. On the way home to New Jersey, I had two rattail combs and some yarn that she gave me and I learned to knit during the long car ride home. I think I was about 9 or 10 at the time (I’m now 51!)

5. Who or What inspires you? Fabric, fabric, fabric. I love the textures, colors, feel and flow. Also, lots of magazines and books (I’m a book hog!) and now I have the internet!!!!!!!!!

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why? I love my pincushions. There’s just something about them that make me happy. There is such a variety out there today and I want to have one of everything!!!

Happy Saturday and What's Been Going on here

Hello all my wonderful blog friends,

It has been a crazy busy last couple of weeks. I have orders coming in as fast as I get them out..which is GREAT!!!!

We have been getting ready for winter :( finally have the coop all set, the wood stacked and the yard all picked up. Now hubby and my son are just waiting for snow so they can ride the new sled LOL. I could do without it, but it will happen here anyway.

My big news is we adopted a puppy! Now we have 2 labs, 1 pitbull puppy, 2 cats, and 10 chickens...busy household here. Here are a couple of pics of the new addition Tib...he really is a sweetheart and we are working very hard to make sure he stays that way.

I also have about 10 new signs that I still have to take pictures of and get posted and we have company coming for Thanksgiving. Can't wait for Turkey day!

Been Very Busy

Good Morning all!

It has been busy around here...which is always a good thing, right LOL. The weather has been cold, but now it looks like we might get a little bit of a Indian Summer coming.

My hubby has been busy making me a couple new pieces that I have been wanting and wanted to share them with you. This is my new crock bench..I painted it a base coat of Carriage Black and put a top coat of Old Forge Mustard, sanded and antiqued. He did a wonderful job :)

I also had him make me a Wall Cupboard that turned out just beautiful..I am so happy with it!! I painted the cupboard with carriage black and a topcoat of Old Barn Red, antiqued and distressed...now I need to go shopping to fill it up!!

I also took a road trip this weekend with my two sister-in-laws, mother-in-law and our cousin to Woodstock, Vermont. We had a great time looking at all the antiques and window shopping..I did see a few treasuries that I will have to go back and get. It was perfect fall day and the weather was great.

I am going to be having a giveaway here starting on Monday Oct. 26th...come back and see what the giveaway will be..you won't be disappointed.

Another Rainy Saturday in the Fall

Good Morning all my blog friends,

Well it's another rainy and chilly fall day here in Upstate NY. The trees are at peak and I did manage to get a few pictures the other day while the sun was out for a few. This is the beaver pond on the road I live on.

And here is are a couple of pictures taken from my stencil room looking out into the side yard...the pear tree is over flowing and the chickens are having a great time running around or sleeping there:

I was hoping for more sun this week, but that didn't happen.

Hubby has been busy making me a couple new pieces of furniture..a crock bench and a wall cupboard, I will post pics as soon as they are completed...I just have to finish the painting and priming..:)

I have a lot of new signs that are going to be listed shortly on Ebay, Etsy and Artfire. It's been busy here..orders are GREAT and I am gearing up for a craft show on Oct. 24th that should be amazing. I have been invited to particapte in another craft show for our local school's PTSO.

Fall Time

Good Morning Everyone,

I haven't posted anything on my blog in awhile. I have been very busy this time of year, lots of craft shows and just life :).

I have been to 2 craft shows so far and still have 3 more to do..I am very excitied about them, but they can be draining to get ready for and with 3 different sites running, I think I am going to go crazy half the time LOL.

I did manage to take last weekend off, at least Friday and Saturday to spend time with my sister-in-law and her family. We had a wonderful time, and went apple picking!! I just love Fall and we took Saturday to go and the weather was perfect..couldn't ask for better temps and lots and lots of sunshine. We picked our own apples and then hit the apple barn where they have the best Apple Cider Doughnuts around..If any of you happen to come to Upstate NY, you have to go Hicks Apple Orchard in the Fall.

I have been so busy making new signs and trying to keep up with my 3 sites, plus making sure I get plenty of family time too...Jeff and Zach have been a great help!!

Today I am featuring Doreen of Privies and Prims. She is a very talented and crafted lady. She has her own shop located in NC and you can find her on Etsy, and her website. (links are below). Grab a cup of tea or coffee and go and take a look at Doreen's wonderful creations.

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?

Privies & Prims has been my business name for about a year. I started out in a shed at my home on Blue Rock Rd., so I named my little shop Blue Rock Country Crafts. I had my first storefront in Burnsville, NC in 2000 and named the store Privies & Perches. I was making lots of outhouse bathroom decorations and my dad was making lots of prim birdhouses, so I changed the name. Inspired by God is all I can say. It just popped into my little brain!

2. How long have you been on Etsy?

Had to go look at my profile for this question.  Seems I started in February 2008.

3. What type of items do you offer?

Penny rugs, prim stitcheries, primitive & folk art dolls, punch needle embroidery & patterns, outhouse stuff, candlemats, prim wreaths, Americana prim t-shirts, wood signs, ornaments, & photographs of old barns and outhouses. I think that’s it.

4. How long have you been crafting?

As long as I can remember. I used to sit at the kitchen table and trace the designs on the napkins. In high school, I made a macramé hanging large enough to cover a window! We also did pottery and leather working. My special leather project was a framed image of a Michelob beer bottle ad. We used wood carving tools and I stuffed the “bottle” from the back with sawdust to give it dimension. At the time, it was my boyfriend’s favorite brand. Personally, I can’t stand the taste of any kind of alcohol. Just give me my McDonald’s sweet tea!

5. Who or What inspires you?

I get inspired by PatternMart.com’s monthly newsletters, looking at others creations online, visiting prim shops, looking through cataloFirst, I must give God the credit for my talents. He puts ideas into my head as I go along. I start out making a doll like the pattern photo, then God gives me ideas to make it my own. Sometimes, I think it’s a curse. I’m always seeing stuff and thinking, “I can make that!” So, that’s why the list of things I make is so long. I just recently added punch needle embroidery to my list and I’m “hooked”. I’m designing patterns that I will sell as kits and will soon be designing prim doll patterns also that will be modeled after the mountain folk where I live.
gs, and the list goes on and on. Gosh, everything I see inspires me! I look at people in restaurants and think of making a doll to look like them!

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

My favorite creations are my primitive dolls cause I love giving each one their own personality. The favorite ones I’ve made are 46” dolls from a Prim & Proper folks pattern.

7. Other places where you can be found (Ebay, webstore, blog).

I don’t sell on ebay too often. Seems I just pay them money and don’t have much luck there anymore. Good Morning everyone!

It is hot and sticky here in Upstate NY..I love the heat, but when you wake up sweating, I would say that it is too much! The last week has been super busy, we had our first ever Havens Family Reunion last Saturday and it took 3 days to just set up for it but it is worth it. Everyone had a wonderful time even though the temp that day was 90!! Thank goodness there was a pool! Here are some pics of the reunion..we had a Hawiian theme and everyone came ready!!

My stores have been doing so GREAT this week and sales are awesome! Hope it stays this way for me and everyone else.

My shop name is Willowtree Treasures. As a child I had a willowtree that was located in our back lawn. Every time the branches would float in the wind it seemed so magical to me. I thought some day ...if I looked hard enough... I may find treasures nestled beneath the moving of these branches.

I have been on Etsy for a little over a year.

I offer items that range from extreme primitive to primitive with a touch of vintage appeal. I create dolls, doll lamps, pincushions, doll pins, hang tags, door greeters, shelf sitters and much more to aid in home decoration.

I have been creating for about 10 years. I started with primitive jar lamps surrounded by a layer of moss and silicone bulbs as the lighting source. When I began to sew I then began adding the half dolls to my lamp creations. I then graduated to full dolls, ornies and doll pins. My business branched out from there.

5. Who or What inspires you?
Life in general inspires me . The life stories people have to share of their triumphs and disappointments I also find as inspirational!

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
My favorite item in my shop is Annie and the Clairabelle cow. I found the construction of this set to be very challenging and did a lot of techniques for the first time! This project I truly had a hard time putting down until is was completed because of my interest in seeing the final product when it was finished!

YEAH!!! It's Friday!!

Friday is finally here!! It has been a busy last couple of days! I have been working on new signs and filling customer orders and trying to keep up with the garden! The days have flown by.

Yesterday, we got a visit from our puppies that Corkie (our yellow lab) had about 16 months ago!! It was wonderful seeing how much they have grown!! Ceaser came and visited us all the way from VA!!! The doggies had a great time and ran around the yard, chased the poor chickens and pretty much wore themselves out!!

Today is going to be a very busy day!!! Hubby gets out of work at 10am, need to go to the grocery store(yuk!!) maybe stop at the thift store (YEAH!!), need to finish up a huge custom American Flag, more orders and hopefully get out to the garden. Whew!!

Let's hope the weather stays great and we can all sit around the fire tonite.

Getting Ready for Fall

Good Morning,

I have been very busy the last few days. The garden is finally giving me some green and yellow beans, 2 zuc's and a cucumber. The tomatoes and corn need sun..which we seem to have not that much of!! I canned 8 pints of beans yesterday and look forward to doing more in the next few days.

I have also been working on my Halloween and fall signs. I have a few more stencils coming and will be posting those as soon as I get them done. Here are a few that I have ready and are listed on Etsy, Ebay and Artfire.

Looks like the sun is going to be out today and I have alot to do...have many more signs to get finished and fill some orders.

Good Morning everyone!!

Well, it is Sunday already and hubby goes back to work tomorrow after a week of vacation. It was great having him home for the week..got alot done.

July 31st Lake George, NY

We took Murray our Black Lab who is 16 months old to Lake George, NY for the first time. We live about 10 minutes from the lake and he was such a good boy..he was afraid of the waves at first and then just sat and watched all the boats. It was a beautiful day on Tues when we went. We have had so much rain lately and any day there is sun, we take advantage of it!!

I will be posting pictures of our house shortly..we bought the house 2 years ago. It is the Hogtown Church in West Fort Ann, NY. It was built in 1895 and has been through the years converted to a home. All the original wood work is still in the main great room. At one time it was used for a camp for hunters and then finally sold as a home. I believe we are the 3rd owners. It is on a dirt road on top of a mountain. We have beautiful views of Buck Mountain and tons of wild life. A couple nights ago we were sitting around the fire and heard coyotes howling to each other!!

I will be posting pictures of our home and some of the primitive signs that I do. Please look for the wonderful crafters on etsy that I will have listed here shortly. They are a bunch of talented ladies and belong to the great team of OFG.
